Charles Kirschbaum  holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (in Organizational Studies) from FGV and completed his postdoctoral studies in Economic Sociology at Columbia University. He has been an Assistant Professor since 2009 and Coordinator of the Professional Masters in Administration from Insper since August 2013. He has been a member of the editorial board of cases at Insper. Before joining Insper, he taught at Centro Universitário da FEI, worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, and as an associate analyst at Advent International Private Equity.

Kirschbaum is a member of Business Studies Center, where he conducted research related to the analysis of social networks in companies. He is part of the NCPI (Science for Childhood Nucleus) and he teaches Strategy for the Doctoral Program, Masters in Professional Administration, and for the Undergraduate. In addition, he teaches the Social Networks option for the Business Administration degree and the Social Networks, Computing and Society course for the undergraduate course in Computer engineering.

His research in Creative Industries has generated a range of international and national publications, highlighting the articles “Categories and Networks within Jazz Evolution: bandleaders’ jazz sidemen overlap from 1930 to 1969”, in Poetics (Sociology of Culture), and “How social network role, geographical context and territorial mobility mediate the adoption of transgressive styles in the jazz field”, in the Journal of Economic Geography (co-authored with Priscila Ribeiro).

He has been playing a variety of roles in the academic community, including leading the theme “Institutional Approach to Organizational Studies” at Anpad and “Relational Approaches to Organizations” at Semead. He is associate editor of academic publications: Mackenzie Management Journal, Organizações & Sociedade, RAE and Stanford University Press. He works as a referee for international meetings and periodicals, including Organization, Organization Studies, Poetics and Academy of Management Meeting.

He is currently developing a project financed by FAPESP (Cepid) associated with the Center for Studies in the Metropolis-Cebrap , involving public schools and social capital.
