    The Siebel School of Computing and Data Science David J. Kuck Outstanding PhD Thesis Award was awarded to Alexander (Zander) Kelley (Fall 2024), and the David J. Kuck Outstanding MS Thesis Award was awarded to Shaurya Gomber (Fall 2024).

    CS alum Richard A. Wells passed away on January 14, 2025, in Austin, TX, at 81. Wells received his CS MS in 1969 at Illinois, working on the academic staff at the Department of Computer Science. He co-founded KMW Systems in 1977,  serving as Chairman and CEO from 1982 until the company was sold in 1989. He was the primary software architect and design engineer for one of the industry's first protocol converters. Wells was also a former director of the Computer Science Alumni Association.

    CS professor Jian Huang was inducted into the MICRO Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to computer architecture research over the last five years. Huang and his graduate students Yuqi Xue and Yiqi Liu also took home a Best Paper Runner-Up award at the event.
