Rob Neely has 35 years of experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) and scientific software development. He received his MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1994 and joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory shortly after as an HPC application developer in the ASCI (now ASC) Program.

Neely is the Associate Director for Weapon Simulation and Computing (WSC) in the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Principal Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He has responsibility over the development and delivery of simulation and modeling capabilities in support of the weapons program at LLNL. This includes procuring, siting, and managing world-class HPC platforms and the supporting infrastructure at the Livermore Computing Center, including the current #1 fastest computer on the Top500, El Capitan. 

He is also the Director of the ASC Program at Livermore, a national program supported at the three NNSA labs to provide global leadership in HPC for the national security mission.
