    IMMERSE Symposium 2026 on April 28-29

    The IMMERSE Symposium — combining immersive technologies, applications and human experience — is a unique meeting of leaders from academia and industry to foster collaborations and build community for research, education and infrastructure to enable the era of immersive computing (including AR, VR, MR). The program features exciting plenary keynotes and panels, followed by breakouts and interactive posters and demo sessions. Register by April 10. If you work in this area, submit a poster/demo by April 5.

    April 28–29, 8 am • I Hotel & Conference Center and NCSA.

    Illinois computer science professor Sarita Adve, assistant professor Shenlong Wang, PhD student Yihan Pang, and Meta Reality Labs Researcher Sushant Kondguli, in collaboration with Meta, won a best paper award at ISMAR’25, a premier XR conference. The paper Ada: A Distributed, Power-Aware, Real-Time Scene Provider for XR was also selected for publication in IEEE Transactions of Visualization and Computer Graphics.

    Illinois receives $7.1 million of the $17 million from the NSF for developing remote XR medical collaborative systems. CS professor and Lead PI Brighten Godfrey is joined by Co-PI CS professor Sarita Adve. Illinois is the lead institution on the award, collaborating with the IMMERSE: Center for Immersive Computing and Carle Illinois College of Medicine, as well as industry partners including MediView, Peraton Labs, T-Mobile, Qualcomm and Cisco.

    Illinois computer science professor Sarita Adve will be a keynote speaker at DAC, the premier design automation conference, on June 27, 2024, in San Francisco. She will discuss enabling the immersive computing era, including IMMERSE and ILLIXR.

    Illinois CS Professor Sarita Adve will be honored for her "valuable contributions to the field of high-performance computing" and featured in the SC23 Conference 35th Anniversary booth on November 12-17, 2023, in Denver, CO.
