CS professor Hao Peng and ECE & CS affiliate professor Alexander Schwing are each working on interdisciplinary research teams with colleagues from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in projects that are the fourth round of a joint research and innovation seed grant program between the University of Illinois System and HUJI that began in 2019. The initiative seeks to accelerate economic development by developing innovative technologies, building on talent, innovations and resources from the two universities.

CS professors Heng Ji and Hao Peng and graduate student Chi Han, won an Outstanding Paper Award at the NAACL 2024 Annual Conference for "LM-Infinite: Zero-Shot Extreme Length Generalization for Large Language Models." The paper presents an innovative and much-needed approach to long-context modeling with LLMs. NAACL 2024 was held in Mexico City, Mexico June 16-21.

Illinois computer science professor Hao Peng will give the AI Distinguished Lecture at Argonne National Laboratory on April 11 on context-length generalization of LLMs and the recently released Eurus open LLM.
