How did you get interested in Computer Science?
As an undergraduate student at UIUC, I took two introductory computer science classes, participated in my first hackathon in 2020, and practiced coding in my spare time whilst in quarantine. My love for computers has always existed. Since a young age, I played videogames on distinct consoles, fixed computer or phone issues for myself and others, configured wi-fi networks for my family, taught myself some website design skills, and practiced basic cybersecurity principles. My classes at UIUC provided me with proof that I was good at computer science, which reassured my fascination for it despite the challenging assignments and exams. To this day, I see myself as a computer-loving engineer for life, and that is why I can look back at Fall 2022 and assertively proclaim that the iCAN program was right for me.
