I've worked in the SCUBA Lab for 2 years now, this will be my third. While there, I worked on ConvEx, a Discord moderation tool, and on YouTube comment data. I have also worked with Girls Who Code as a facilitator for their sessions.

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I took a course in high school about computer science, and after taking that course, I realized that I actually did enjoy a lot of how computer science worked! I was specifically really interested in the problem solving aspect and how there's often multiple ways to reach a solution.

What social interests matter to me?
Increasing access for girls in computer science!

What is my most impactful college experience?
My most impactful college experience has been CAing the course CS 126! I really enjoyed the course when I took it, and being a CA for the course gave me a new perspective on how to write good code!

Research Description
I am working with Tanvi Bajpai on social computing research based on Reddit. Specifically, the work is on Reddit's Modqueue which is where moderators can take a look at what content needs to be moderated and make actions on it. I will be collecting information using the Reddit API to identify moderators who have posted about using the Modqueue.

Biography
Sowmya is a senior in Computer Science from Redmond, WA! She has interned at Microsoft and Stripe over the past summers and has continued research during the school year with Eshwar Chandrasekharan.
