How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I developed an interest in computer science shortly after getting a computer at 5th grade. I loved the creative aspect of computer science and began making all sorts of applications and video games. Now, I'm equally interested in creating new intelligence.
What social interests matter to me?
Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois for its unique, joint program in Computer Science and Philosophy. Here, I am able to participate in one of the top CS programs in the nation with leading research while philosophize about existential inquiries.
What are your passions outside of computing?
I am passionate about creation and self-expression. I love to draw and paint via many mediums. I also think a lot about our world. I constantly read, watch and learn about political science, history, and philosophy.

Biography
My name is Jingcheng Yang. I was born and raised in Shenzhen, China. Growing up in the “Silicon Valley of China,” I witnessed firsthand how technology can transform society and shape the way we live. I am deeply passionate about emerging technologies while considering their social impacts. I also love to make video games. One day, I hope to become a successful researcher and game-developer.
