Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I’ve always loved math for its logic and problem-solving aspects, and when I joined a robotics team in middle school, I discovered that computer science offered similar challenges. Programming robots and taking introductory CS classes sparked my interest in the field. I quickly saw how computer science could be applied across various areas, from education to healthcare, to create real-world improvements. Encouragement from female role models in high school deepened my appreciation for the logical, structured thinking CS requires, solidifying my passion and my desire to make a positive impact through technology.

What social interests matter to me?
My social interests center around promoting inclusivity and accessibility, particularly in education. I’m passionate about creating equitable opportunities for underrepresented groups in STEM fields, especially for women and minorities in computer science and mathematics.

Why did you choose Illinois?

What are your passions outside of computing?

What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)

What has been one of your favorite experiences as a CS STAR? (For Returning CS STARS)

What is my most impactful college experience?
My most impactful college experience was helping to organize and attending the Women in Computer Science (WCS) Chicago Retreat. This opportunity allowed me to deepen my connections with my committee members and forge strong relationships with other intelligent and passionate women in CS, some of which are now my close friends. It was also fulfilling that all the girls, including myself, enjoyed the company visits and got to envision futures in roles that intersect technology with healthcare and finance. This experience not only honed my leadership and organizational skills but also deepened my commitment to fostering inclusive spaces within the tech community.

These are a few of my favorite things!
Biking, word games, listening to music, and most recently, pickleball!

Biography
Hi! I'm Prisha Singh, and I'm a sophomore majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. I grew up in Skokie, Illinois, and have lived in the state my entire life, so I'm deeply proud to be an Illini. On campus, I’m actively involved in various organizations: Illinois Women in Computer Science (Member), Gies Disruption Lab (Software Engineer), CS 124 Honors (Project Manager), STAT 107 (Course Assistant), and now CS STARS. My research interests focus on enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in education through the intersection of computer science, mathematics, and data science. You can probably find me at Grainger Library on any given day—my friends joke that I live there! I also love biking, eating on Green Street, and dancing!
