Project Title
How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I started learning basic web development in middle school, which inspired me to take a computer science class my freshman year of high school. I learned how to break down problems, how to convey my thought processes in code, and how to think in a logic-driven manner. I had an excellent teacher who helped me develop these skills and I very quickly realized that there was nothing else I'd rather study.
What social interests matter to me?
Sustainability and equity in education
What is my most impactful college experience?
Joining Women in Computer science. I've found such a supporting community where I feel welcomed and included. The organization has provided me with so many resources and opportunities that have really helped shape my college career.
These are a few of my favorite things!
Cats, the color orange, enormous blankets
Research Description
Biography
I'm Simone Schwaighart and I'm a junior at the University of Illinois with a major in Computer Science and minors in Classical Civilizations and Mathematics. I took an interest in computer science at a young age, an interest that has only grown through high school and into college. My hope is to eventually apply the technical skills I've cultivated into sustainability and environmental conservation efforts.
