Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
In my freshman year of high school, I began attending meetings at coding clubs, where I started creating small websites. I discovered that I really enjoyed what I was learning! I then participated in programs such as Girls Who Code and Kode With Klossy during the following summers. I also familiarized myself with cybersecurity concepts through CyberStart America, took several computer science courses both in and outside of school, and taught web development lessons as an officer of my high school's Programming Club.

What social interests matter to me?
Improving accessibility in user interfaces, investigating the impact of design on user decision-making, personalizing students' learning experiences, and fostering a welcoming community of women in computer science

What is my most impactful college experience?
As a freshman yet to start college, I haven't had many college experiences. However, chatting with Women in Engineering ambassadors and exploring UIUC's campus during the Admitted IlliniFest has definitely inspired and excited me for my upcoming college journey.

Crocheting, making matcha tea, cute cafes/study spots, pilates, long walks, and hanging out with friends

Biography
Skyla Jin is a freshman majoring in Computer Science and Advertising at UIUC and has research interests in human-computer interaction. She is originally from Huntington Beach, California, and was a dancer for 13 years, primarily doing ballet, contemporary, and Chinese dance styles. In high school, she developed a passion for programming and has since become particularly interested in pursuing web/app development and design. In her free time, Skyla enjoys crocheting and spending time with her friends and siblings.
