Project Title
How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I started programming in middle school by taking a robotics class, where I also did Hour of Code. I liked coding so much that I took computer science classes in high school and developed a love for the field!
What social interests matter to me?
Ethical computing, diversity in computer science, and education for all.
What is my most impactful college experience?
My most impactful college experience was being part of the Outreach Committee for WCS. By volunteering at Outreach events (ChicTech, Admitted Women's Day, etc.) and helping plan the logistics for some, I gained confidence in my ability to impact others positively. In WCS, I found not only friendships and connections but also a sense of belonging at Illinois and in computer science!

Research Description
Biography
Tia Kashyap is a sophomore in Statistics & Computer Science from Plano, Texas, and has been in CS STARS since Spring 2024. She is passionate about data science, and hopes to pursue research in data mining, big data, and data management systems. On campus, she is an Outreach Co-Chair for WCS, where she plans long-day events such as ChicTech and Admitted Womens' Day.
