How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I’ve always liked figuring things out whether it was solving puzzles or trying to understand how some tech thing worked. I’d spend hours tinkering, trying to make things better or just understanding it. Math and logical thinking always made sense to me. And when I finally took a CS class in high school, it felt like the right place for everything I enjoy doing and then there was no looking back.
What social interests matter to me?
Why did you choose Illinois?
UIUC stood out to me for its strong CS program and the opportunities available even at the undergraduate level. I wanted to be in an environment that challenged me but also supported exploration and growth and Illinois felt like the right fit.
What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I care deeply about healthcare accessibility and improving quality of life for the elderly. Mentoring is another constant for me; I led my school as Student Body President and now co-chair the ACM Mentorship Committee at UIUC. I also enjoy painting - it helps me slow down and think creatively.
What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)
One of my favorite experiences has been the GFX Leadership Scholars Program, where I designed and delivered an interactive STEM module for K-12 students at a local school. It helped me build confidence in both teaching and mentorship, and I made great friends along the way. The way the students engaged with the module and asked questions really stuck with me, it reminded me why I care about mentorship and made the whole experience genuinely worth it.
What has been one of your favorite experiences as a CS STAR? (For Returning CS STARS)
What is my most impactful college experience?
These are a few of my favorite things!
Rainy weather and being around nature, reading by the window, goofing around with my family and friends, the feeling when a piece of code finally works, and anything with chocolate in it.

Biography
I was born and raised in New Delhi, India though I lived in Australia for a few years as a child. I grew up in a family deeply involved in healthcare and their passion for helping people and putting others’ needs before themselves shaped my values early on. But I also understood that I didn’t need to be a doctor to help others. I’ve always been inclined towards technology, problem solving and computer science and so decided that I would use these skills to make an impact. My family has always supported me in carving my own path and pursuing my interests and that encouragement continues to shape how I approach both CS and life in general.
