How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I took Computer Science courses in high school, and I was immediately drawn in by the transformative nature of coding. I loved that I had the power to bring my thoughts to life through lines of code.
What social interests matter to me?
Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois because of the incredible opportunities it offers and the strong sense of community I felt right away. When I attended an engineering event on campus, I immediately fell in love with the environment. It truly felt like home.
What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computer science, I'm passionate about exploring the world. I love traveling with my family and experiencing new places. I'm also committed to supporting other students, especially those who might be navigating unfamiliar paths like I did. As a first-generation American and first-generation college student, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance and encouragement I received while finding my footing. Because of that, I’m always here for anyone who needs support, and I hope to pay it forward however I can.
What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)
One of my favorite experiences at Illinois was connecting with other students through my STEM sorority, Phi Sigma Rho, and finding a community there.
What has been one of your favorite experiences as a CS STAR? (For Returning CS STARS)
What is my most impactful college experience?
These are a few of my favorite things!
I love Star Wars, Formula 1, kart racing, reading, and museums.
