Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I got interested in CS through my love for math. I’ve always loved how objective math was and loved the art of problem solving. I even competed in numerous math competitions which bolstered my love for math more. But truly, it was that method of planning and problem solving that got me in love with CS. I’ve been doing STEM camps and robotics activities since I was in 5th grade so when I got the chance to take an actual programming class in 7th grade I was so excited. I found my true love of CS by participating in robotics competitions and making my own websites through my classes

What social interests matter to me?

Why did you choose Illinois?
My brother actually went to UIUC so I’ve visited the campus multiple times. Even though I only spent a few hours at UIUC it felt like I was home! I love the cs program as I’ve done multiple camps and CS events like CS SAIL. But what put me over the top was the women empowerment programs like WIE and it felt super reassuring that there was such a blossoming community of women in CS!

What are your passions outside of computing?
From my previous response, I love math because I find it real and challenging. But otherwise, academically, I’m interested in business models and management as well as stocks and finance. I’ve also been interested in the environment for a long time, I’ve helped the organization “GirlCon” in its sustainability marketing so I have a big passion for that (like learning about climate change and global warming). Some of my more fun hobbies include crocheting, card/board games, and doing my nails. I also love traveling and want to visit every country when I’m older!

What is my most impactful college experience?

These are a few of my favorite things!
I have a pretty wide range of interests! I obviously love computer science. I also love women empowerment especially in STEM. Along with that I love to embrace my culture and am definitely going to join the south asian association! I also have a little exposure to business particularly to excel sheets and I find that interesting. As I said before, I love the environment and want to join sustainability RSOs. I also want to get back into robotics because I used to do it a lot when I was younger.

Biography
Hi guys! My name is Srikriti (but I go by Sri) and I’m so excited to be a part of CS Stars! I’m especially interested in researching LLMs and AI for financial decision-making and environmental impact. Outside of CS, I enjoy crocheting, traveling, and playing board games. I’m passionate about women in STEM, sustainability, and embracing my South Asian culture, and I can’t wait to get involved in RSOs and research on campus!
