How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I developed an interest in Computer Science during middle school. I was always enthralled by technology, and its plethora of applications in the real world. When COVID-19 hit, I began to research and think more about CS, which led me towards the world of computers.
What social interests matter to me?
Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois for several reasons. Firstly, because the Computer Science program is one of the best in the country. Additionally, the University of Illinois is also extremely well-known for research, especially with such esteemed professors and facilities. Additionally, I felt that culturally, Illinois would be the best fit for me. After arriving on campus, I can strongly say that I'm glad I chose UIUC.
What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I enjoy building - PCs, keyboards, and even LEGOs. I also really enjoy playing sports like tennis (which I have been playing for more than 10 years now) and have also recently picked up volleyball as a hobby.

Hi! I'm Chinar, a freshman in Computer Science at the University of Illinois. I am from India, specifically Pune, MaharashtraI love Math and CS, tinkering with code, listening to music, and exploring new cultures. I am a budding entrepreneur, with an aim to help teachers and students alike through positive use of technology. Compelled by quirky activities like building with Legos, following the latest trends in technology, and learning a little bit of Japanese every now and then, I am an innovator by heart.
