Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I first became interested in Computer Science through CS 105 at UIUC, taught by Professor Colleen M. Lewis. That course introduced me to Python, and it sparked my curiosity about programming as a way to create structured outputs and models. Later, I took an advanced Java course, which deepened my understanding. At the time, I was a complete beginner in CS, but I found myself fascinated by how programming could translate abstract ideas into concrete, rule-based systems. Over time, I also began reflecting on the philosophical side of CS—seeing it not just as a technical toolkit, but as a discipline shaped for the future, designed to model, simulate, and build systems that extend human capability.

What social interests matter to me?

Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois because of the strong academic atmosphere and the supportive learning environment on campus. Coming from a busy city, I found that life there could often feel overwhelming and distracting. In contrast, UIUC’s college-town setting offers a balance of freedom and independence while also encouraging personal growth and self-reliance. At the same time, Illinois is recognized as being among the top in several disciplines, which gave me confidence that I would be challenged academically while still being part of a close-knit and focused community.

What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I am passionate about collecting vintage jewelry, which allows me to connect with history and craftsmanship in a very tangible way. I also have a strong interest in art, music, and fashion/design, all of which inspire my creativity and give me new perspectives beyond technology. In addition, I enjoy theatre, both as a form of storytelling and as a way to experience different cultures and ideas. These passions help me balance my technical work with a broader sense of creativity and expression.

What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)

What has been one of your favorite experiences as a CS STAR? (For Returning CS STARS)

What is my most impactful college experience?

These are a few of my favorite things!
A few of my favorite things include my jewelry collections, where each piece feels like a story or a memory; musical theatre, which combines my love for music and storytelling; my hamster, who brings me joy in everyday life; and my growing poster collections, which reflect my interests and aesthetics over time.
