Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
“Go, go, go, Snuffleupagus!” my teammates and I chanted as our 7th-grade robot raced across the classroom floor. While our chants did not make the robot go any faster, that project ignited my fascination with coding and problem-solving. It was my first glimpse into computer science. What really solidified my interest was when I started building actual projects. I remember the excitement of writing my first working program, and later, the satisfaction of developing more complex tools. I also love how CS teaches you to think methodically. Every bug sharpens my problem-solving skills and teaches me resilience. For me, computer science has become a way for me to explore ideas, express creativity, and make a tangible impact.

I chose UIUC because it offers the perfect balance of academic excellence, a vibrant campus community, and endless opportunities to grow.

What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I like to stay active by going to the gym. I am a big foodie and enjoy discovering new cafes and restaurants. I am also passionate about tutoring and mentoring. I find it incredibly rewarding to help others grow.

Biography
Hi, my name is Kristelle, and I am a freshman majoring in Computer Science. I have a deep passion for technology, machine learning, and AI. I am the creator of FinGuru, an AI-powered financial literacy chatbot designed to equip teenagers with the essential skills and knowledge needed for a secure financial future. I also founded SheCanCode, a program dedicated to empowering middle school girls by introducing them to coding through Python and data science. My ultimate goal is to work for an innovative technology company.
