How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I got interested in Computer Science through a computer programming class at my high school. I liked the fact that I was able to code things I could use based on what I learned, like creating an actual game to play or something as simple as code to make a decision for me. In the future I hope to make a real-world impact through computer science.
What social interests matter to me?
Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois because of its computer science program, but also because of how pretty the campus was. When I visited, I really could envision myself going here. The people were also so wonderful, and it's also pretty close to home. Illinois is pretty much perfect for me.
What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I like baking, running, and learning random things.

Biography
Hi! I’m Ashika Anand, a freshman in Computer Science from Plainfield, Illinois. I’m interested in areas of cybersecurity, data science, and interactive computing. My personal goal is to make meaningful contributions to solve real-world issues and to bring a positive change in society, and that’s what my passion for computer science stems from. In my free time, I enjoy going out for ice cream and walking.
