Project Title
How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I initiated my first coding project in the fourth grade, designing a system for automated garbage bag collection. This early experience provided a clear realization of how computer science can be leveraged to enhance daily life. Growing up in Shenzhen, a city profoundly shaped by the field, I witnessed firsthand how technology transforms societal structures and the way we live. While my path began with a passion for robotics, I soon pivoted toward algorithms upon recognizing that they serve as the 'brain' governing the robot's body. This journey has since evolved further; I now view artificial intelligence as the ultimate 'brain'-like tool, and I am driven to explore how to apply this smart 'brain' to do smart things.
What social interests matter to me?
Why did you choose Illinois?
I choose Illinois because our university has so many resources that can help us to pursue our goals. There are knowledgeable professors, inclusive environment, and lots of opportunities!
What are your passions outside of computing?
Beyond my academic pursuits, I find great fulfillment in the appreciation of Chinese Shanshui (Landscape) paintings and the art of Chinese calligraphy (Shu-fa). These traditional art forms serve as a vital' moderator, providing a necessary creative outlet when I seek an escape from the rigors of my studies. When time permits, I am an avid traveler, drawn to magnificent landscapes, diverse cuisines, and the opportunity to immerse myself in new cultures. My interests also extend to reading, music, and exploring museums and galleries—each offering a unique lens through which to better understand the world.
