Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I first became interested in Computer Science because I liked the feeling of using code to solve real problems. When I started learning programming, I realized that even a small program could make a task easier, organize information better, or help people understand something more clearly. In my CS courses, especially through projects, I became more interested in how software is built step by step. I enjoy the process of breaking a big problem into smaller parts, debugging, and finally seeing the program work. That experience made me want to continue studying Computer Science more seriously.

What social interests matter to me?

Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois because of its strong Computer Science program, supportive academic environment, and many opportunities for students to learn both inside and outside the classroom. I wanted to study at a school where I could challenge myself, work with motivated classmates, and explore different areas of computing. Illinois also has a strong engineering community, which makes me feel that I can grow as a student and prepare for my future goals.

What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I enjoy watching anime and reading manga. I like how they tell stories through characters, art styles, and different worlds. They also help me relax after studying and give me new ideas and perspectives. Watching anime and reading manga have been hobbies that keep me creative and interested in storytelling.

What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)
One of my favorite experiences at Illinois was Quad Day when I first came to campus. There were many different clubs and student organizations recruiting new members, and it was exciting to see how many opportunities students have here. I got to learn about different communities on campus and meet people with similar interests. That experience made Illinois feel welcoming and helped me feel more connected to the school.

Hi! My name is Boqiang Sun, and I’m a sophomore majoring in Computer Science at UIUC. I’m from China. I’m interested in programming and learning more about different areas of computer science. Outside of academics, I enjoy watching anime, playing video games, and spending time with friends.
