Project Title

How did I get interested in Computer Science?
I was introduced to computer science through some basic Python and block coding. I soon became engrossed in Scratch and its online community, and later learned web development through designing my personal Neocities page. With some formal education on Python, I now plan to further explore Python, Git, and more as I prepare for college and the CS STARS program.

What social interests matter to me?

Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois for its world-class programs in engineering and research, especially in computer science, as well as those for music and art. Only Illinois has the vibrant atmosphere that will allow me to explore my curiosity and creativity alike.

What are your passions outside of computing?
I am passionate about exploring new ideas and emotions through arranging and songwriting. I also enjoy music at school, having been involved in my high school's top choir, top band, and in marching band as the section leader of the front ensemble. I've also led through community service and student organizations such as Yearbook Club, combining technology and design. Above all, I am dedicated to pursuing the world-changing innovations of the sciences while never forgetting the beauty and compassion of the humanities.

What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)

What has been one of your favorite experiences as a CS STAR? (For Returning CS STARS)

What is my most impactful college experience?

These are a few of my favorite things!
Math and technology, weird and new songs, historical strategy games, making jokes and music with friends, and having a good root beer float with an even better cheeseburger.

Biography
Born in the Peoria, Illinois area in the Year of the iPhone, I was swiftly adopted by a loving teacher and physician assistant. My frequent outbursts balanced my mature book smarts until the end of middle school, when I acquired some emotional intelligence, humor, and friends. In high school, I dedicated myself even more seriously to academics (with the trials and APs of junior year), music (as a section leader and songwriter), and technology (having learned some web development and Python). I am now delighted to continue pursuing my varied passions at Illinois.
