How did I get interested in Computer Science?
It actually started with curiosity. I became interested in CS because I see it as a powerful tool to solve real-world problems. As a CS+Advertising student, I realized how often technology can enhance communication and data analysis. I want to deepen my technical skills to build better solutions.

What social interests matter to me?

Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois because of its unparalleled academic atmosphere, world-class faculty, and the unique CS+X fusion program that perfectly aligns with my interests. Additionally, I am deeply impressed by the supportive and collaborative learning environment at UIUC, and I am truly excited about the prospect of growing and thriving in such a vibrant community.

What are your passions outside of computing?
Outside of computing, I am genuinely interested in economics. I love understanding how resources are allocated and how systems influence human choices on a larger scale. It has taught me to think about trade-offs and long-term impacts. I believe combining this perspective with my computing skills allows me to think about problems more holistically.

What has been one of your favorite experiences at Illinois that you would like to share with prospective students? (For Continuing UIUC Students)
Volunteering with the UIUC Robotics Club during my freshman year was a highlight. I helped operate an activity centered around a robotic glove. Put it on, you could simulate the sensation of grabbing an apple or even turning a Rubik’s cube. Slowly figuring out how to control the movements and calibrate the touch feedback made me realize the incredible potential of human-computer interaction. That hands-on experience introduced me to the joy and challenges of learning robotics, and it made me eager to explore more in this field.

What has been one of your favorite experiences as a CS STAR? (For Returning CS STARS)

What is my most impactful college experience?

These are a few of my favorite things!
I love playing badminton with friends on a sunny day, and I’m always ready for trips to explore new places and try new local foods. I also enjoy singing in the shower and dancing when no one's watching.

Biography
I was born and raised in Zhengzhou, a vibrant city in central China. Growing up in a fast-developing metropolis, I witnessed firsthand how technology transforms daily life and connects communities. Seeing those changes sparked my deep curiosity about problem-solving. My family has always encouraged my passion for exploring new ideas, which gave me the confidence to pursue computer science. As I learned more about coding, I realized that technology could be a powerful tool for creating positive change. I am driven to deepen my skills and use computational thinking to make a meaningful impact in the future.
