Siyuan Brant Qian, CS PhD, earned first place at the 47th ACM SIGPLAN Conference on Programming Language Design and Implementation (PLDI 2026). Qian, advised by CS assistant professor William S. Moses, submitted his research project, "Impulse: Momentously Fast, General, and Portable Probabilistic Programming via Compiler Augmentation" to the student research competition.

Vikram Adve, Donald B. Gillies Professor in Computer Science, was invited to submit two articles for a CACM special print issue on high-impact, federally-funded research projects highlighting the importance of federal funding in supporting paramount computing research. Adve's first article, published online in November 2025, centered on the AI Institutes for Agriculture; his second article, about the LLVM project, is set to be released in August.
