U of I is good at the federal grant game and its computer science and engineering programs have turned out bold thinkers: Mosaic co-creator Marc Andreessen, YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, Oracle founder Larry Ellison and PayPal co-founder Max Levchin, just to name a few.
