Biography & Research Abstract
Abstract:
ILLIXR is an open-source extended reality (XR) testbed. At its current state, ILLIXR contains components such as a live camera-IMU plugin, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), asynchronous timewarp, computational holography, and many more. ILLIXR’s runtime framework integrates all of these plugins into a modular XR system which is also OpenXR friendly. In my presentation, I will explain my contribution with a live camera-IMU plugin as well as utilizing ILLIXR to study how a simple graphics application stresses the system in terms of performance per component in a desktop platform.
Bio:
Hello! I’m Jae Lee, an incoming sophomore in Computer Engineering from UIUC. I am interested in all things of VR/AR, ranging from creating entire VR/AR applications in Unity as well as working with low-level components of a XR system. I believe that VR/AR will be the next major computing platform as we move forward from the 2D screens of monitors along with interfaces such as the keyboard and mouse. VR/AR will bring forth a new dawn of interactive computing, essentially enhancing our five senses to experience reality with limitless digital elements.
