Project Title

Biography & Research Abstract

Abstract:

I created a Docker image and a Snakemake file for the heterogeneity analysis pipeline that performs SNV calling on bulk-sequencing SARS-CoV-2 data on the SRA database. This pipeline was created by Palash Sashittal, Chuanyi Zhang, and Mohammed El-Kebir. My contribution automates the several steps carried out in the pipeline and makes it easy to deploy via Docker Hub.

Bio:

My name is Medha Patil and I am a rising junior in Mathematics and Computer Science at UIUC. I grew up in Pune, India, and moved to the US for my undergrad. I am a facilitator for Girls Who Code, UIUC and I work as a Data Engineer intern at SpringML Inc. I am passionate about software development, problem solving, and data analysis. I will be working under Professor Mohammed El-Kebir as part of the CS REU program. I am excited to see how I can apply my technical and analytical skills to solve problems in the field of bioinformatics.
