Biography & Research Abstract
Abstract:
The main research I did in June was about Clowder Extractor and Docker. In July it was about Flask framework and Clowder API. The reason why I did that research is there are many low-income, underprivileged groups that need material support from their community, but there are two existing problems: one is the organizations that are in charge of helping these groups consist of volunteers, they collect data and allocate resources using pen and paper, it’s inefficient, the other is these groups of people sometimes have to work two or three jobs a day to make a living, but they also have to wait in long queue for the required resources, which makes them hard to keep up. With this in mind, we come up with a practical solution for these real problems. We need to build an inventory recycling and management system that directly connects people who have extra resources and people in need of these resources, they can search in our website for specific items and request it, in this way, they don’t need to wait for a long time and still get nothing.
The goal of this project is to provide community-based non-profit organizations a userfriendly web and mobile dashboard for inventory management. The major stakeholders and target audience of the dashboard are the following: • Non-profit organizations that accept and provide used household items from and to the community for free or at a low and affordable cost. Habitat for Humanity and Veteran Affairs Housing Assistance are examples of such organizations. • Community members and individuals who are looking for places to donate items they have no use for anymore. • People who need and are interested in using such items.
