Aishwarya Ganesan, CS assistant professor, and Ram Alagappan, CS assistant professor, were awarded an $800,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to work on data-streaming foundations for next-generation applications including AI agents. "Emerging applications such as AI agents interact with continuously evolving data in fundamentally new ways, and this project aims to rethink the foundations of data-streaming systems to support these workloads efficiently, safely, and reliably," Alagappan said.

CS professors Ramnatthan Alagappan and Aishwarya Ganesan, working together with PhD students Xuhao Luo, Shreesha G. Bhat and Jiyu Hu , won a Best Paper Award at SOSP 24 November 4-6 in Austin, Texas for "LazyLog: A New Shared Log Abstraction for Low-Latency Applications."
